What to do if you find an error in your credit report?

First you should request a copy of your credit report and review it carefully. If you notice an error in the report you should call or write to the credit bureau. This is instructed on your credit report. They will then check with the source of the information and send you an update on what is going on. If you continue to disagree with their outcome of the dispute you can then add a statement of dispute to the credit report.

When doing so please be VERY specific with the dispute. State exactly what you think is wrong with your credit report. Give as much detal as possible to resolve the dispute in question. The credit bureau must ask the source of the information for a reponse, the dispute process can take up to 1 month to reslove.
